How doctors are staying healthy

As we go into cold and flu season covid cases are expected to rise as well, so I thought I’d share some healthcare protocols that a number of the doctors I follow are using to keep themselves healthy. I am, of course, not a doctor and not prescribing anything. I just enjoy sharing info that I think is valuable 😊 I’ve added links to articles and videos so you can do your own research.

Vit D3

  • While all these doctors say it is important to get your levels tested to accurately determine your dose, they typically suggest 2500iu – 10000iu/day
  • There appears to be a correlation between low levels of D3 and worse covid/respiratory symptoms
  • You’ll need lower doses if you’re Caucasian and living in a sunny area; more if you’re Hispanic; more still if you’re Black.
  • Don’t wait ‘til you get sick …. start taking D3 now. It takes days for your liver to break it down into its active component (calcifediol)

Zinc

  • 25-50 mg/day

Quercetin

  • 500mg 2x/day (Dr Seheult)
  • Quercetin is an ionophore – meaning it helps with the uptake of zinc in cells.
  • An alternative to Quercetin is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) which is found in GREEN TEA

NAC

  • N-acetylcysteine combats oxidative stress and thins the thick mucosal gel that is so problematic in covid. It also prevents hypercoagulation of blood.
  • 1200 – 1800mg/day (Dr Mercola); 600mg 2x/day (Dr Seheult)

Vit C

  • 2000-4000 mg/day (Dr Nepute)
  • This is water soluble. If you take too much you’ll get diarrhea. Take til ‘bowel tolerance’. Figure out your ‘bowel tolerance’ by taking 1000 mg every hour until you have loose stools. Back off a bit from that.

Probiotics

  • The gut is intrinsically involved in our health.
  • Look for probiotics with min 20 billion cells/day (Dr Nepute)
  • Include different strains of pre-, pro- and spore-biotics (Dr Mercola)
  • My favorite: https://seed.com/learn/probiotics-101/

Other recommendations:

  • Use a nebulizer with 50/50 saline solution and hydrogen peroxide (3%) (Dr Nepute and Dr Mercola)
  • Stay well hydrated.
  • Get good sleep.
  • Minimize sugar, refined carbs and alcohol.
